Introducing The Movement Defense Strategies Project
I
We provide accessible, community-centered legal services that support organizers, activists, and grassroots movements in realizing their power. By expanding access to justice, we help dismantle systemic barriers and strengthen the efforts of those leading the fight for racial equity, social justice, and human dignity. We aim to ensure the law becomes a tool for collective liberation, driven by those most affected by injustice.
Core Values:
1. Rooted in Anti-Racism
We are dedicated to dismantling systemic racism by following the anti-racist organizing principles of The People's Institute for Survival and Beyond, ensuring equity in all that we do.
2. Trust-Driven Change
We believe that true transformation is built on trust, and we move at a pace that honors relationships, community, and collaboration.
3. Community as Leaders
We recognize that leadership already exists within the community and are committed to nurturing and elevating the talents and voices of those we serve.
4. Equity through Shared Power
We are committed to creating spaces where power is shared, decisions are made collectively, and every voice has influence.
5. Sustainable Growth through Collaboration
We believe in building sustainable movements by fostering deep, lasting partnerships with organizers and community members, supporting growth driven from within.
